The target audience includes physicians (psychiatrists, family medicine), mid-level providers (physician assistants and nurse practitioners), psychologists, social workers and psychiatric nurses. The course is designed to increase provider’s ability to care for a variety of psychiatric conditions that may be complicated by environmental or medical conditions using the latest advances in medicine.
Changes in legislation and societal attitudes have directly impacted the care of patients with mental illness. Behavioral health providers are expected to meet the mental health needs of a diverse and evolving patient population. Whether it be the increased awareness of Autism or the recognition that the LGBTQ community have specialized needs, psychiatric providers are often impacted. As drugs, such as ketamine and marijuana, receive indications for psychiatric illnesses, mental health providers are expected to know how to counsel patients and use these substances appropriately. This conference intends to provide the latest information on new and novel treatments and develop a better understanding of our patient’s needs.
